View details of our Accessible Performances

TO BOOK ANY OF OUR ACCESSIBLE PERFORMANCES OR FOR MORE INFORMATION PLEASE CALL TICKET SALES ON  0844 338 5000.

The best approach to Birmingham Hippodrome is on Hurst Street, with both bus and rail stations less than half a mile away. Limited parking is available on the adjacent Hurst Street and Thorp Street. The Arcadian Centre Car Park (entrance in Bromsgrove Street) has specially allocated bays with easy access to street level (approximately 150 yards to the theatre entrance).

»  Blind & Visually Impaired
Guide dogs are admitted into all public areas including our auditoria and theatre staff will look after guide dogs during performances and events. Seats can be allocated close to entrances if required. Our Audio Description Booth (donated by The Bigbury Trust) provides audio description transmission for certain performances to visually impaired audience members. Touch Tours are a tactile exploration of set and costumes for the visually impaired and their families. These take place prior to audio described performances and need to be booked in advance.

»  Deaf & Partially Deaf
Receivers are available for our infrared amplification system from Customer Services. Signed performances with specially allocated seats close to the signer are arranged regularly. Deaf patrons can also take their assistance dogs into all public areas. There is a loop system for patrons using hearing aids when booking over the front counter.

»  Impaired Mobility
There is lift access to all front of house areas, main auditorium, Patrick Centre and Hospitality & Conferencing areas. Wheelchair users have easy access to the foyer through automatic doors to the right of the theatre’s Hurst Street entrance. Wheelchair positions are now located in most areas of the stalls and circle in the main auditorium and positions are available in the Patrick Centre.

Accessible unisex and ambulant disabled toilets are available on all levels.

Refreshments are available in our Café Bar on Level 2 with low-level counter service. The Hippodrome Restaurant on Level 3 is also easily accessible and interval drinks can be pre-ordered at any bar.

»  Babies & Children
The theatre strongly advises no admission for children under three, except for productions as advised by a ticket sales assistant. We consider Pantomime to be suitable for ages 3 plus and most ballets for 5 plus. In accordance with licensing requirements every person entering the auditorium must be in possession of a valid ticket. Baby changing facilities are available on Level 2. For further information or feedback on our access facilities, please contact Liz Leck on 0121 689 3064 or email accessonline@birminghamhippodrome.com.
